Meaningful Connections: Montessori Method for Dementia Activities

Creative Connections in Dementia Care Montessori Activities Method

Course Summary

Montessori activities work to not only allow people with dementia to do things they love again, but decrease "challenging behaviors." You will be able to create and lead these activities for people from early to late stage dementia in the home, day program, or care community environment.

Do you struggle with your resident or person with dementia being unable to do most activities? Traditional dementia activities often lead to the person with dementia being unable to do them or refusing all activities because they do not work with the nurology of the brain. Montessori dementia activities work with the brain in dementia and create a perpared environment to allow the person to be successful.

This course is a mix of Zoom learning with Katie and recorded educational sessions. You will be doing practicum and required to work with people with dementia 1-1 and in at least one small group setting in your community. You will get feedback from the instructor and have individual support throughout the course. The timing of the zoom sessions will be set with the group to find the most accessible time for all.

Upon completion of all coursework, within the three month time period, you will receive a certificate in the Creative Connections in Dementia Care Activities Creator Method.
